THE PLIGHT OF THE VANISHING DROPS IN MANGALURU

Nature is a gift. Gift that bound to make memories. Natural surroundings can provide the best ever feelings around. Rain is one such essential factor for memorising reminiscences.  A very beautiful moment that can enhance any person, enabling to admit the greatest blessing of God bestowed upon mankind at a specific point of time. Environment has many forms, scenes, each of them are varied with the blink of their beauty. Rain is one of them that give a real feeling of happiness and gratitude in a sad or mournful time.

Did you ever think how rain makes you feel?

Rain is bliss to fade away all our worries. With the drizzling drops ringing the message of revitalizing oneself. Bringing life to the half dead, half open buds. It’s a wonderful ride swinging with the seven colours, for artist’s its foundation for imagination, for Farmers it’s the mode of free services for their land. Imagine the day you enjoyed to the fullest. Desert gets to quench it long thirst. Fun lovers get to sail ship and get drenched in the love of nature. Forest and other flora all take a great relief from the blazing heat. Harsh conditions of summer some simple enjoy it and gets philosophical which is away. It’s an eternal blessing to nourish every single soul to the fullest.
But today we all are to the greatest extent responsible for the damage of the environment. Rain is not just the memories for mankind but plays a significant role in the eco system.

We will soon be in the vein of imagination. The day you starched your hands flying high will never come back. Imagine the day you enjoyed walked with your umbrellas playing around, replaced with the burning heat

Importance of rain for the eco system

Rain is an important aspect to balance the ecology. Creatures that live in the ocean can survive on salt water, but organisms on land generally depend on fresh water for survival. Rain is the means by which fresh water is created; when it evaporates, water leaves behind its salt. Without rain, there would be no fresh water available.
Humans depend on fresh water for survival. Though it is possible to remove salt from ocean water through a process called desalination, it is expensive, and the cost of transporting water inland is prohibitively costly. Rain fills aquifers, and it keeps rivers and lakes filled. Forms of life that depend on rivers would not have evolved without rain

Rain has a number of effects on the environment. Many canyons and other natural features were shaped by rainwater eroding surfaces. Many species of life in the ocean depend on minerals that flow from the land to the sea. Without rainwater, they would not be able to survive.

Rain water may play a key role in creating the climates.  The very presence in the atmosphere provides for a type of direct evaporation that replenishes the moisture and heat in cloud systems. Rainfall evaporation also acts as part generating the tropical humidity.

The circumstances of fading drops at Mangaluru

India has been drastically witnessing the diminution of rainfall. Mangaluru is not apart from the trends of decreasing rainfall.  Emergent air pollution in the city of Mangaluru is the one of the major cause for decreasing rainfall. A massive rain deficit has been observed across the country in June. South India, which usually experiences very good monsoon rain, has also been at the receiving end.  Mangaluru in Karnataka is one such place where rainfall deficit has been very high this time.

The average monthly rainfall in Mangalore in the month of June is 1045 mm but the city received only 610 mm of rain, the highest in last one decade. The lowest amount of rain that the city had received earlier in the month of June was 629 mm, observed in drought year of 2009.
There has also been only 20 rainy days in June - there is rain almost everyday during normal Monsoon – with light to moderate spells of rain. Heavy spells have been very few which added up to the deficit.

The above reasons clearly indicate how weak Monsoon in Mangalore has been so far. Year of deficient rainfall leads to the following consequences:
Agricultural output will be impacted: While this has a direct impact on the economy of the state, it also leads to other social issues like the suicide of farmers. Due to the crop failure, the farmers would not be in a position to repay the loans they had taken for agriculture and few of them take an extreme step of suicide.

Drinking water scarcity: A lot of towns and cities in Karnataka are dependent on rivers for the supply of drinking water and any deficiency in rainfall leads to lesser amount of drinking water being supplied to the homes.

Shortage of electricity: Deficient rainfall leads to a drop in the amount of electricity produced by hydroelectric projects and hence drastic measures like compulsory power cuts have to be employed to counter this shortage.

In the recent days Mangaloreans have witnessed load sheding in the evening. All this is the impact of low rainfall in the district. Environmental issues are the major consent. If we don’t protect our environment the warning bells of the slogan, rain rain go away come again another day will never come back another day.

That come again another day will soon be in vein of imagination. The day you starched your hands flying high will never come back. Imagine the day you enjoyed walked with your umbrellas playing around, replaced with the burning heat. Remember It’s our soul responsibility to preserve our nature. Not just for the sake of eco system but to develop the magic’s of relationships with the nature. Because no one can replace the presence of the nature.

POEM ON : THE FALLING VOICE OF THE BIRDS

From fallen leaves; On the lively trees, The silent dreams, Before the raising sun, the chirping bird; Made  my pleasant days On the fallen trees now, The fallen voice of, esteemed beauty, Of his golden voice, Is now washed away, He is broken for all the happenings; He can barely fly to make me happy, No one looks up to this bird anymore. He is just object because we all have better works, The people are too busy, And controlled by money, To care about the bird, They could not look down, To the broken, sad bird, We have no time to make him feel the warmth nor to sooth him, Things  are vanishing away, Without the mesmerising voice, And while they are now happy, we can’t  and not ignore, The bird there to die, On the lively trees.

Media the Voice for environment

In the name of development we have encroached the forest, lakes and waterways and what not?  When too much of human activities are conducted against nature it goes in its course be that Kashmir flood, incident in Kedarnath region 2013 or tsunami, cyclones and all types of natural calamities throughout the world. No media is discussing the root cause of the problems which can bring change in the society by the media. Living in harmony with the nature we all know about its importance, but when it comes to practice we tend to forget about it. Everyone wants development, but at what cost? Who would listen to the victims? few oppose industrialisation that has equilibrium  with the nature. How many dams, hydroelectric power plants can be laid along the river 10-60? More importantly there is no clear cut policy on dams, and no thoughts as how dams should be built, where or how? Today, society’s interaction with the nature is extensive that environment question has assumed a...

Five reasons why algae is essential

They are not animals or plants but they’re definitely alive. They don’t have leaves, roots but they are plantlike. The colorful formations make places anywhere possible. They are terrified when found around. As an act of hygienic sense, we tend to keep them away.  It's  washed away whenever found on the pots, walls and many other places. Ever wondered how these colorful patches are essential.  Lifestyle  process has impacted mankind and nature. Pollutions, climatic change, global warming has conveyed at the peak levels.  In fact we are paid to breathe in fresh oxygen. This is the current mode our lifestyle. The conviction of unwanted stuff has reasons to help us out. Algae can suck in the carbon dioxide the gas that is created by traffic and other forms of human pollution. Helping to provide clean and fresh oxygen.  Though algae doesn’t find a place with mankind. Algae use sunlight to prepare food and release oxygen. Food chains are as i...
